Healing the Trauma Body.

Art by Yeko Creative

Trauma, whether physical or sexual, impacts the connection of the mind and body.

It changes the relationship with the body that has been traumatized.

It alters the perception of it.

An unknown language is imposed.

One disconnects from the body, as it is seen as a place that causes pain.

The mind and body separate, in order to survive and continue to exist.

One is essentially robbed of the ability to live in a body, under authentic terms.

The imprint of another is inflicted.

The body becomes a foreign place, frequently experienced as the enemy.

Self inflicted abuse or mistreatment may occur, in an attempt to reconnect, remove numbness and ease somatic pain.

For these reasons, when doing trauma work, it is imperative to engage in activities, that help one to reconnect with the body...in a healthy manner.

It is important to reestablish a connection under ones terms.

It’s essential to engage in activities that allow self love to manifest.

Some of these include...

Breath work Connecting with ones breath provides intimacy, stability and release.

Yoga

Yoga helps one to communicate with the body, mind and soul... resulting in the reintegration of the three.

Dance

Dance reestablishes joy. Movement of the body emits happiness.

Martial arts

Redefines the body as a place of strength.

Energy work Healing that identifies and removes stagnant energy that resides in the body.

Meditation Connecting back to the Source that is the essence of you.

Essentially, exercises and activities that engage the body and mind, are crucial for healing trauma. They reestablish love, strength, healing, joy, alignment, connection and control.

Psychotherapy exclusively, is ineffective. Healing by recreating the relationship with the body, in an authentic manner, creates more lasting results and progress. Blessings on your journey of Healing.
